St John of God Murdoch Hospital caregivers met with many visitors at the Fremantle Women’s Health and Wellbeing Day.

A diverse group of women accessed useful health information at the Fremantle Women’s Health and Wellbeing Day at the Hilton Community Centre, including information about mental health from St John of God Community Mental Health caregivers.

Counsellor Stephanie Jones from Ferns House in Fremantle says the day was a real success, with many women asking pertinent questions about depression for themselves and for people they cared about.

“Many visitors asked us what the difference between anxiety and depression is and whether they go hand in hand,” says Ms Jones.

“We gave them useful information and distributed free copies of the book “Secret Squirrel Business” by Jenny Middlemiss, which describes anxiety and depression and gives insights and strategies to manage these mental health issues.”

The day was very well attended, with 130 women attending from all areas of Perth. The annual event includes entertainment and stallholders from many metropolitan health services.
