Tanya nominated for excellent skills and kindness

hesta outstanding graduateSt John of God Murdoch Hospital Enrolled Nurse Tanya De La Cruz was nominated as one of five finalists in the HESTA Nursing awards Outstanding Graduate category.

The hospital’s Graduate Programs Coordinator Kimberley Montgomery, who nominated Tanya, says she is professional, cheerful and compassionate.

“Tanya truly epitomises our hospital’s values,” says Kimberley.

“Over a very short period of time, she has proven herself to be a competent, compassionate and effective team member regardless of the clinical setting in which she works.”

“Not only is Tanya a great nurse, she has a strong ability to communicate with patients while showing them dignity and respect.”

Tanya completed an intensive Enrolled Nursing Diploma with Challenger Institute of Technology, in partnership with St John of God Murdoch Hospital in 12 months instead of the usual 18 months.  Her determination and commitment enabled her to develop high level skills on a busy surgical ward.

Tanya says ever since she was small, she has always wanted to help others.

“I’ve always wanted to take care of people and I was taught the importance of being kind,” says Tanya.
