Message from our CEO

Welcome to the Autumn edition of Messenger.

The first part of 2014 has been a very busy time at our hospital and there has been much to celebrate.

We celebrated the life of St John of God on the 8th March, the day named in his honour. John was a man who truly modelled the story of the Good Samaritan and his life’s work can inspire us to live our own lives with kindness and humility.

In the same tradition of helping others, our Social Outreach and Advocacy caregivers have a profound impact on the lives of those who are vulnerable or disadvantaged. We had an opportunity to celebrate their valuable work as Murdoch Community Mental Health reached its tenth year of providing its services to our community.

Our new Wexford Medical Centre is now complete and was officially blessed by His Grace Archbishop Timothy Costelloe, Catholic Archbishop of Perth, in March. We’re looking forward to the impact the Centre will have on our delivery of services and being able to further meet the health needs of our growing community.

To coincide with our twentieth birthday, our Open Day provided our community with a behind the scenes look at what goes on at our hospital. We offered tours of the hospital, as well as community health information and family entertainment.

As you can see, there has been a great deal happening since the beginning of the year so I hope you enjoy reading all our news in this edition of Messenger.

John Fogarty
Chief Executive Officer
