Healthy living tips for Wandoo residents

The hospital’s Dietitian Karin Cook joined other health professionals from the community, including a dentist, a podiatrist and a diabetes expert, to offer residents information on living healthier lives.

Community Relations Coordinator Katherine Jones, who also attended, said many of the residents come from disadvantaged backgrounds and have not had the opportunity to learn about taking care of their health.

“Many of the residents are over or underweight, unfit or suffer from chronic diseases due to drugs and poor nutrition and lifestyle habits,” said Ms Jones.

“They were really keen to learn about developing good lifestyle habits for when they are rehabilitated back into the community and it is a fantastic thing that our hospital can contribute to helping them in some way.”
